    94 Previa All-Trac questions

Hello, I'm a new owner to a 94 previa All-Trac auto. I have some questions.

It's throwing an EGR code. Is the EGR pretty easy to replace? Can I just pull the current EGR and clean it out, or do I need a new one?

The Previa seems to slow way down when I'm pulling into parking spots. I think it might have to do with the front differential. Is it getting ready to go out? It doesn't make any sounds, unless what I hear when driving around (a hum that sounds like mudder tires) is a hint to a front diff that could be on its way out.
Can I unhook the front drive-line and just run RWD? It almost sounds like (what I've read) having an all-trac is sometimes more hassle than it's worth. If I could just unhook the front drive-line and run the rear wheels without having any issues, that would be great. I don't think there are many Previa's around my neck of the woods in salvage yards.

Also, I'm looking at lowering my Previa. Has anybody tried the RSR springs? I saw them online. They offer a 2" drop. I was thinking about ordering them next week. I don't want to go the bagged route, and I don't want to buy JDM stuff. It's too pricey for my budget.

Thanks in advance for your input.

    Re: 94 Previa All-Trac questions

Though I've owned an AllTrac Previa before, I am not 100% familiar with how the center diff functions.

If it's like my Torsen-based Audi Quattro, disconnecting the front driveshaft will make the rear wheels do nothing.

If it's like a Vanagon with a viscous coupling, you can remove the front driveshaft and drive the bus as rwd.

If i remember correctly, it's a viscous coupling. I think i read that somewhere.

    Hi Leppah,

Check out this post on ToyotaVanTech: http://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/s...vations-(long)

It mentions the fact that the All-tracs have a viscous coupling...so hopefully that answers part of your question.

In terms of lowering your Previa stuff...I noticed that you've already discovered the Previa Springs thread (http://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/s...-springs/page2 ), so you probably have a good start on that.

For the EGR stuff, have you been able to read this thread: http://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/s...aning-write-up
    or this one http://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/s...ith-EGR-System

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for all of the info. I'll look into this stuff when I have more time. I appreciate it!
