    4WD rear shocks

    I know that the OE rear shocks are NLA, but I was wondering which OE type shocks are used for the rear with coil springs. I tried the search function but haven't come up with much as far as after market OE style that's being used.

    I've come up with 2 different type of KYB rear shocks so far-


    KYB -343140-excel-g-shock-absorber
    these are readily available

    KYB -kg4644a-gas-a-just-shock-absorber
    these are out of stock on the KYB website

    I have the front OEM shocks I just got from Toyota but just trying to figure out which rear shocks everyone else has had good experience with.

    Best shock length will vary depending on whether you have stock ride height or if it's been lifted. If lifted, knowing how much will be helpful in determining length. Tim

    I'm trying to keep it all stock, I'm pretty sure there hasn't been any modifications done to the suspension, but to be sure I'll have it looked at next time I take it in not unless there's some specific markings on the OEM shocks that I can look at myself.

    The 2 you mention are both well suited for stock ride height. The 343140 is a GR2 shock and the kg4644a is a Gas-a-just. Gas-a-Just shocks are mono-tube and the GR2 is a twin tube design. Mono-tube is a superior design, so IMO these would work better (if you can find them). They will also be more expensive. Tim

    Niiiiice, I ordered them this morning at 500am and got the confirmation at 600am that they were being shipped out. They should be here next week, I'll give an update when they get here.

    I got the KYB's awhile ago along with OEM front shocks. The parts guy told me there were only 4 left (front) and after that they would be NLA. Check it out-

    Rear Shock Part #?

    Does anybody remember which rear Tacoma Shocks works best with the Mr. Gasket spacers? Or maybe point me to the thread?

    I have a set of bilstiens I have yet to install, I can get a part number off themy if you need it still. Can't confirm they will work but came from a van guy that said they were the ones

    I had purchased rear shock extenders from Toytec and they worked great. They have them in 10 x 1.50 and 10 x 1.25. $19 for 2. I purchased kyb rear shocks and added the 10 x 1.25 extenders and they are great. I also purchased 2" 96-02 4runner rear coil spacers and they worked great as well. I feel a steel or aluminum spacer is much safer than 2 rubber spacers, especially one on top AND bottom.

    Looking for rear shock part # recommendations. I like the look of the Bilsteins shown in the Front Shock thread.

    Mine has a 2" lift . -pics with current shocks below.

    When I google the part # on current shocks (48530 ad051) I get no hits except used. Looking or new replacement or better.

    You will need to mod the bottom bushing slightly. Google search this site for more.

    got it. 24-186056 must be the replacement part number (?) When I use advanced search I only get 1 hit which shows a spring mod as well.. Hmm.

    These are replacement parts for the Tacoma. They will fit fine without mod on a lifted Van. It is the front one (Dacota's) that need some adjustment, My bad!
    Google " lift kit ToyataVanTech" there is a lot more info on this site or use "tags" in the advance search, Gwen just spent a huge amount of time organizing all that, it works.
