    Replacing Tail Light BULBS

i can only find info on replacing entire tail light components, but cannot find any info on replacing bulbs or what type the bulbs are, etc. needing to replace the very top tail light bulb. it would seem ridiculous to have to replace the entire component, idk why i can't find any info about this, as it seems pretty basic. used to have a replacement set, but left them behind somewhere traveling on accident :/

You're right, it's pretty basic, all you need to do is lift the back hatch and remove the 3 screws keeping the tail lights in place. They'll pop off with a little effort and then the bulbs and sockets are your standard rotate to pop in and out type. As far as which bulbs to use, 1157's seem to be the ones you want. Although I have 1156's (single conductor bulbs) in mine but I also have single conductor sockets, so I would look into the empty bulb sockets and see if you have a single or double conductor socket and replace accordingly.

I just did this to install LEDs, it's pretty self explanatory. There are three screws on each tail light to remove. Twist the harness cap and pull the bulb out. Put new bulb in.

i used 1156 bulbs for the backup and turn signal lights and 1157 for the brake lights.

You can also take the interior panels off of the inside, only 4 screws and some clips hold them on. that way you aren't struggling with holding the taillight and trying to replace the bulb at the same time. Be careful, they're most likely brittle from old age.

thank you for the straightfoward answers. much appreciated~

also, would anyone happen to know what the front seat/rear view mirror bulb is?
and also if there is any hope of finding a plastic cover for it anywhere besides off another van?

    thanks!

    Re: Replacing Tail Light BULBS

This is my first submission, so please let me know if I am doing anything wrong and I will correct it.

Can Anyone tell me how I can access the taillight bulbs in my 1992 Toyota Liteace camper van (Pics attached)? I cannot locate any screws on the exterior, or the interior.

The back story is that my dash board light (all other dash signals work fine) and my tail lights (brake lights and other rear signals are all fine) are not working and I want to check if any of the light bulbs (tail lights) are burned out.
