    Wiper blade mount conversion

Hey folks, just wondering if anyone might be able to confirm something with regarding some parts:
so a few days ago the head (whatever it might be, see picture, the part that you insert your wiper blade onto) decided to explode randomly not kidding, and now im down on a good wiper blade.

according to Toyota and part diagrams, the head piece seems to be one with the wiper arm assembly. does anyone know if it can be found individually perhaps? thanks. i know it rains rarely but it would be at least nice to have two wiper blades!

I had a similar issue. I decided to convert mine to the more standard wiper mount you see in most cars today. My van is at my shop and when I get there I will send you pics. With these new mounts I was able to modify a Ford Taurus wipe blade to my van. It is longer and provides a much bigger view. I will get there this weekend and take some pics.

I looked back and found the parts to make the conversion.

    Go here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You have to make 2 holes in each wiper arm for these to work. Then Just get what ever wiper you want. I just happen to have an older Ford Taurus and the blades are BIG. Took a little persuasion but I was able to get them to fit and have a much larger viewing experience.

    An update

    Greetings again,

I appreciate the conversion, but it seems now that is NLA unfortunately.
If anyone has an alternative recommendation, please let me know.

If not, I had a dastardly idea: I will try and find someone / a company that 3D prints and see if they could "re-make" these wiper arm attachment points or something like that.

Getting more active online with the forums as I am cleaning out my storage and finding car parts in almost every nook and cranny I've gone thru in my house so far!!!

If you search amazon for wiper arm adapters, you get dozen's of those things. It doesn't fit all 'universal' wipers though. Over here what they sell at the generic autopart store and the fuel station, is the bosch aerotwin blades. They will not fit, because the connection is to the side of the J shape at the end. no way to lock the plastic clip. I guess none of that style will fit. The simple metal wiper blade like in your picture will fit.

Ideally just having the bayonet pin style is easy enough so I have found a guy thru the word of mouth who is a self-taught 3D printing guy so I will organize a meet-up and i'll report back the process of that. He can replicate the plastic piece, although the pin I will have to look elsewhere to find a replacement.

Did you ever check out the van at the Pull N Save in Gilbert, it should have those parts or hell the whole arm itself. I'll be up there Sunday if you want me to try and snag it and meet you somewhere nearish by before I make my way back to Tucson. Let me know

Oh no, not THOSE guys... they ripped me off on some parts a while back and I vowed to not go there again. I have seen a couple vans in their yards however!

Well here's your chance for revenge, pay the $3 entry fee, put these in your pocket, and walk out

These guys didn't charge me for the sliding door handle on Sunday when I went in so they're alright in my book

Maybe another time, seems all my Van parts are satiated for now... since I have some news.

The 3D printing guy has made a (unconfirmed yet) probable success in replicating the original part. Below is a picture he sent just now.

I will update this when I have the part mounted, and put it to use to see how it holds up, I'll report back when that's completed. I'll be getting them - about four - tomorrow

I'm an engineer that uses CAD professionally and has a high end printer. SOOOOOO if the gentleman you linked with does not come through with the replacement part or runs into problems, I can help.

    An Update

Now I have the parts, and looking at them thoroughly and doing some testing, it seems the design could be tweaked a bit. Of course, it's not gonna be perfect off the bat since we're experimenting of course Already nipped a piece off of the retaining tab of where the pin is retained in the mount, whoops.

In the meantime, I have located the exact pin used in my double-end pin wipers, it's apparently an ANCO 4805 pin which seems to be NLA for 10+ years at this point... could tell from some of the old finish hidden in the crevices of these pins. I will be holding onto these closely! Maybe I'll see if a machine shop locally could reproduce these...

He is a newbie so we are both figuring out what does and doesn't work. If you do have some insights, I can put you in contact with him to perhaps help out a bit, or I can message you to figure out some stuff too so I will be in contact perhaps? I imagine you would know a thing or two being a professional with this stuff q

yeah, message me on here and I can help out. If he sends me the file, I can alter the model, print, test and repeat.
