Suspension, lift, and wheels/tires - 1992 2TZ-FE - The Saga of Njordi
Now that Njordi is running well, it is time to look ahead toward winter safety. I live in Wisconsin and the RWD craves winter shoes. I want to get bigger tires on Njordi and a lift seems like the best way to go. The tires that came with my purchase are trash and ready to explode, so this needs to happen relatively soon.
My plan is to lift the front using Sienna struts, lift the rear using the JOR kit, and try to replace as much of the suspension as is feasible. Total cost estimate for the suspension and lift is ~$1500.
- Journey's Offroad Kit
- Bilstein (24-026758) 46mm Monotube Shock Absorber
- Front struts (KYB SR4177 and KYB SR4178)
- New rear springs
- Frontlower control arms (48069-28050 and 48068-28050) - can't find oem
- Controlarm rear bushings (2ea. 48655-28010) - can't find OEM
- Lowerball joints (43330-29235)
- Stabilizerlinks (48810-28010 and 48820-28010)
- Stabilizerbar bushings (2ea. 48815-28040) - can't find OEM
My plan is to get this work done, then buy a wheel fitting jig to see what size wheel/tire combo I really want. The reason I am doing the JOR kit AND the Sienna strut is I think it gets the best of both worlds. I get the custom made brake lines, the rear shock brackets, the easy to install real lift stuff, and the correct bump stops. But I really want that different strut perch height for the front.
Question for the group, has any one found good front control arm bushings and stabilizer bar bushings? I searched around, but haven't seen any discussions about these. Mine are cracked a bit but still functional, but it seems like a good while-I-am-in-there kind of update. I know @previologist has a suspension thread going, but I did not want to derail his discussion with a separate project. Would love to use anyone's knowledge!

Re: Suspension, lift, and wheels/tires - 1992 2TZ-FE - The Saga of Njordi
I just got a pair of used control arms on ebay, and the rear bushings (BECK/ARNLEY) from rockauto. Can't find the fronts except as a kit of 4 on ebay. Also found some fronts on alibaba for $0.89, have to make sure not to get those. The rear bushings are easy to replace. Fronts are gonna have to be pressed out, but gotta find some first.
