    Tacho wiring

Picked up a 95’ LiteAce a few weeks back, it didn’t have a factory Tach but I’d like to have one. On my other Toyota diesels the tacho pickup is on the block side of the pump. I figured since this one didn’t have a tachometer it wouldn’t have the sensor there, but it seems to have the sensor and wires present. Can anyone confirm the location of the tachometer pickup port on the pump for the 3c-t.

    thanks,
    Dan

    Re: Tacho wiring

This is not an answer to your specific question, but this info may help. On my 89 2ct, the tach signal goes from the pickup on the injection pump to the Emissions Control Computer (in the passenger pillar) and from there to the instrument cluster.

At the tach pickup on the injection pump, the signal is a somewhat irregular sin(ish) wave from voltage min -1v to voltage max 1v. After the Emissions control computer (and at the instrument cluster), the signal is a square wave from voltage min .5v to voltage max 6v.

If the setup is similar in your 95, there may be a place on its Emissions Control Computer (or equivalent computer) where you can pull a square wave tach signal.
