    late model mufflers

Bosal used to be the muffler of choice for my earlier models, but they don't exist anymore and I have a 97 now. Not sure what was supposed to be special about them in the first place. Anyone know if there is a "preferred Previa muffler" for late models, or should I just get whatever...definitely don't want to spend $300 on it

I got mine for a '95 from AutoZone. BRExhaust is the brand. I think it was around $300 though but does have a warranty.

My trusted home away from home muffler shop says there are no prefit mufflers anymore, so everything is custom. I will wait until I get to my home home home muffler shop to decide what to do. I don't think I want to pay $300

I'm also in the market for aftermarket mufflers, both of my vans need new ones.
After a little bit of digging around I think I am going to try out the AP Exhaust Enforcer II Steel 2 Inch Muffler 3742 that Summit sells for about 26 bucks.

It is about the same length as the stock (on my 91 NAs, not sure about the late models/SC mufflers) though a thinner diameter. Stamped cartridge style internal baffling.
Reviews report the sound as being quiet, which is what I'm looking for personally. We'll see how that goes.

Mine is a 97. I don't know why they are different than 91-95 but that's what I am seeing. But seeing as I am on an extended remote camping detour on my way back home, with little cell or internet access (bliss!!) I haven't been able to dig into it much. I think my coat hangers and zip ties are going to make it back to the Midwest though, once the heat wave breaks on the plains in a few days and I can make the drive back from the NW in reasonable temps.

That looks sort of like what is on mine now, but I have no idea what it is for sure. The price is attractive!

My trusted "home town" muffler guy will fix it for $211, parts and labor.

Don't know what he'll use but I trust him so I don't care. But my home town muffler guy is 45 minutes away so it will have to wait until more important repairs are done.

They ended up doing it for $169, a 130 dollar savings over the SW. Sadly, I'm still sucking exhaust. Gonna have to figure that one out finally.

Something something cat. Something something curiosity. Something something killed. Ohhhhh, now I remember.

I broke open the converter with a hammer because I wanted to see the inside. It was a blackened lump of burned up circuitboard. It smelled not just bad, but very very toxic. I wish I hadn't done that. Don't do what I did.
