    Not starting tps issue?

    Had a buddy help me put in a new tps, broke the air intake hose (17881-73020) and I’m not sure if he calibrated the tps correctly/: either way we rigged the cracked hose back on with electrical tape and somehow got the van running for me to drive it home. And now it won’t start I want to take the tps off and calibrate it correctly but now I can’t take the hose off because it surely won’t go on again. I’m getting code 51 still and the van is cranking but no start. The scary part was that there was smoke coming from the throttle body area this morning. I’m at square one now I hope someone has some advice to what I can do. I’m looking for a mechanic that could help me out I’m in oceanside California

    Update, there is spark just tested it. I also found the fuse 1 (7.5 ign) was missing so I threw the one of the spare fuses in that spot and the van almost cranked over and started. I’m tapping out for the day and am gonna go at it for a little bit in the morning before work

    In the third post i was having a similar issue due to a cracked intake boot, did an electrical tape fix that failed, and located a suitable aftermarket replacement hose from a 2007-2012 Nissan Sentra 2.0. it sounds like i had similar problems to you, maybe the electrical tape didn't hold on your van as well?

    The sentra hose requires 1 5/8" barbed nipple, 2 5/8" hose clamps and 1' each of 3/8" and 5/8" vacuum line. Discard the hard plastic box with a vacuum nipple from the sentra hose, but keep the hose clamps and the "J" shaped block off tube from the two orifices. Shave the rectangular hose clamp locator nubs off both of the large main clamps, and flip the clamps so the clamping screw faces the correct direction. You can leave the round peg in place to keep the clamp from slipping backwards. Take the 4-way Tee off your factory hose, the 5/8" hose running back to the firewall area, and the 3/8" hose running to the front of the engine by the radiator cap. you can leave the final smaller hose connected. Install the 5/8" barbed nipple and vacuum hose onto the hose going to the firewall, relocate the 4 way tee to the port that's open, in my install it was pointing forward by the airbox, and replace the 3/8" factory vacuum line by the radiator cap with your new slightly longer hose.

    I just might try this, doesn’t sound too difficult thank you! I’m also seeing a 2014 Toyota Corolla hose isn’t too far off either! I may do some more digging but if not I’m gonna try your fix!
