Bolt slid into oil passage in head...
So, working on my friends 93 previa, changing the valve cover gasket, got a replacement valve cover bolt for a missing one that has a slightly smaller head than the original bolts, i dropped the new bolt into the head while testing the fit of it in one of the holes and it promptly slipped down one of the lower oil return passages. What are the chances that it made it all the way down into the oil pan? And if it did, does it absolutely need to be retrieved or can i just button everything back up and get it at a later date? I tried slipping a magnetic grabber down into the passage but came up empty handed. Please tell me i dont have to take off the head...

Man what a bummer!
I don't know definitively, but that would have me really nervous. I'd want to get it outta there.

So i went ahead and pulled the oil pan and there it was, it had slid clean through so not the end of the world. oil pan needed to be sealed up again anyhow.
